NORBERT GERALD SORENSON was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 18, 1941 to Olaf and Katherine Sorensen. By the time the 1947 Camden City Directory was compiled, the family had moved to 910 North 24th Street in the Cramer Hill section of Camden.

Norbert Sorensen was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on May 27, 1968. His brother Richard L. Sorensen was appointed tot Camden Fire Department on November 3, 1969. Sadly, Richard L. Sorensen was seriously injured in 1977 when the fire engine he was riding in crashed into a corner store on South 6th Street while responding to an alarm and was forced to retire. 

Norbert Sorensen was living at 3142 Waldorf Avenue at the time of his appointment. He later moved to 508 North 34th Street. When residency requirements were lifted for Camden firefighters, he moved to Bellmawr, New Jersey. Norbert G. Sorensen retired after completing 25 years of service on June 30, 1983.

Norbert G. Sorensen was last a resident of West Deptford, New Jersey. He passed away on July 20, 2016 at the age of 74.

AGE: 74 • West Deptford and formerly of Bellmawr

On July 20, 2016, of West Deptford and formerly of Bellmawr, NJ, age 74. He is the beloved husband of Joanna (nee Somma), loving father of Sandy Polo (Russ), Stephen Sorensen (Darlene) and Fred Roberts. He is also the dear brother of Donald Sorensen (Mary Ann) and loving grandfather of Zachary, Samantha, Anthony, Trey, Madison, and Anthony. Mr. Sorensen is a retired firefighter for the City of Camden and a member Local #788. Relatives and friends are invited to meet Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, 400 WHITE HORSE PIKE, OAKLYN, NJ. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers Mr. Sorensen's family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the ASPCA. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at www.creranfh.com.
