JOHN
ROCCO CIANFRANI was born on August 16, 1942, the only child of John
J. Cianfrani and his wife, the former Mary Pilla. His
grandfather, James Cianfrani, had brought the family to
Camdenaround 1919. His father, John J Cianfrani was born in
1920, and by the time the Census was taken in April of 1930 the
family was living at 341 Winslow Street in Camden's Eighth Ward.
The family was still at 341 Winslow
Street as late as 1943. John
J. Cianfrani was then serving in the United States Army.
John
J. Cianfrani, his wife Mary and son John Rocco were living at
1823 South
4th Street when the 1947 City Directory was compiled. By
1959 they had moved around the corner to 414 Emerald Street, a
stones throw from Engine
Company 3 at 1813 Broadway.
The Cianfrani family resided at that address through October of
1970. By the fall of 1977, however, they had left Emerald Street
for Bellmawr, New Jersey. His

uncle, Raymond Cianfrani Sr., was
still living at the 1823 South
4th Street as late as 1980. After
serving with the United States Mariune Corps from 1962 through
1966, John Cianfrani returned to Camden. He was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on
November 10, 1967. He served the City of Camden for over 26
years before retiring on February 1, 1994.
John
R. Ciafrani never married. His father passed away in 1987. Last a
resident of Bellmawr, John
R. Cianfrani passed away on February 23, 2003, survived by his
mother, aunts, uncles and cousins.
