His grandfather, James Cianfrani, had brought the family to Camdenaround 1919. His father, John J Cianfrani was born in 1920, and by the time the Census was taken in April of 1930 the family was living at 341 Winslow Street in Camden's Eighth Ward. By the fall of 1977, however, they had left Emerald Street for Bellmawr, New Jersey. His

uncle, Raymond Cianfrani Sr., was still living at the 1823 South 4th Street as late as 1980. After serving with the United States Mariune Corps from 1962 through 1966, John Cianfrani returned to Camden. He was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on November 10, 1967. He served the City of Camden for over 26 years before retiring on February 1, 1994.
