Hugh Vogel was promoted to Captain on April 2, 1974. When Camden lifted the residency requirements for firefighters and police officers, Hugh Vogel and family moved to 311 Richey Avenue in Collingswood, New Jersey.

After completing 31 years of service with the Camden Fire Department, Captain Vogel retired on September 1, 1999. Besides his duties as a firefighter, he also served as a contract negotiator with his union local of the I.A.F.F.

Words can not express my sadness. I hold dear the hours we spent together at River Beach And how your mom would come running out when we would pass by. I deeply regret not making the time to stop and see him. Your mom and him will always be in our hearts

~ Chickie Uzdevenes, Merchantville, New Jersey

I did not see much of Huey over the years, but when I did he always had a smile on his face and something funny to say. Just like he did when we where kids at St. Joan of Arc. And who could forget the days and nites hanging out at Bill's. Rest in peace my brother, Carpy
