Dr. William


DR. WILLIAM T. READ III was born in Camden NJ. His father, William T. Read Jr., was prominent in Camden as a lawyer and banker, and had served as New Jersey's State Treasurer and as a State Senator. His grandfather, William T. Read, had been prominent in insurance and real estate, and his grandmother, Lucretia S. Read, had been, among other things,  President of the Board of Managers of the Camden Home for Friendless Children. His brother Walter N. Read was a prominent South Jersey lawyer with the firm of Archer, Greiner, & Read, and served as a member of the N.J. Casino Control Commission in the 1980s. 

Dr. William T. Read graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as an M.D. in 1931. He was a past president of the Camden County Medical Society, and had been an instructor of pathology at the Medical School. Dr. Read served for many years and retired as Camden County's Chief Medical Examiner. A resident of Cherry Hill, Dr. Read died on  August 27, 1998.
