Edward G. Miller

PRIVATE EDWARD G. MILLER was born in 1922 to Ernest and Margaret Miller. He had attended St. Joseph's High School in Philadelphia, and had served for 18 month in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He also worked for the Flexitallic Gasket Company in Camden NJ before enlisting into the Army in January of 1942. The Courier-Post of Camden NJ reported on Tuesday June 23, 1942 that he was serving in Panama with a coast artillery unit. He eventually served a total of 18 months of anti-aircraft duty in Panama before being sent to fight in Europe in August of 1944. He was reported as missing in action in Germany on September 26, 1944. His body was subsequently recovered, and he was reported as having his status changed to killed in action in the October 10, 1945 evening edition of the Camden Courier-Post.

Edward G. Miller was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Miller of 1709 Woodlynne Avenue in Woodlynne NJ. He also was survived by brothers Ernest Jr. and Bernard, who were also serving in the Army at the time. Ernest Miller Jr. had also been badly wounded while serving overseas.
