PRIVATE LAURENT F. CHOIMER III, 20, of Ridge Avenue, Glendora NJ, was killed in action while serving with the 134th Infantry Regiment on October 7, 1944, during combat in the Foret de Gremercy. A champion swimmer while a student at the Camden County Vocational School, he had been employed as a draftsman at the B.F. Sturtevant Company in Camden, prior to being called up in May of 1943. While the November 14, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post reported that he went overseas in June of 1944, it is highly likely that he shipped out in May. The Choimer-Trace VFW Post 8714 in Glendora bears his name.
