SERGEANT HARRY W. WERNETH, 20, of Glendora NJ, a ball turret gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress, was killed in action while on his seventh mission of occupied Europe. A graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia PA, where he was on the swim team, Werneth had been overseas for only a month before he was lost. His father, Harry C. Werneth, was presented with his Air Medal and Purple heart at the Ferrying Command Air Base at New Castle DE. He was survived by his parents, and a step-brother, Lt. Raymond Buseman.
