SECOND LIEUTENANT JOHN
M. LESHER JR. of 30 Oswego Avenue, Audubon NJ, was killed in action on September 5,
1944 at Liuchow, China.
A 1939 graduate of Audubon High School, he entered the Army in January of
1942, and left for Biloxi MS in the second week of January. Trained as a bomber pilot, he went overseas in October, 1943. He
had completed over 40 missions when he was lost. Known to friends and family as Jack, he was survived by his
parents,
John M. and Cecily Lesher, a sister Doris Mae Lesher, and his
grandmother, Mrs. Joseph LaFrancis. His father was active
in the American Legion in Audubon. His death was reported in the
September 29, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. John
Lesher was brought home to New Jersey in the fall of 1947. He was
buried on October 29, 1947 at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Cinnaminson
NJ. |
