STAFF SERGEANT JOSEPH H SLOAN was born on March 19, 1919. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Sloan. The Sloan family lived at 80 Woodland Avenue in Delaware Township NJ. He married prior to being inducted into the Army, and lived with his wife Leotta and daughter Joan at 125 Haddon Avenue in Westmont NJ. Inducted into the United States Army early in the war, Joseph Sloan was a member of the 104th Infantry regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He was killed in action on November 30, 1944 during the house-to-house fighting at Sarre-Union. He was brought home after the war, and buried at Beverly national Cemetery on April 14, 1948. |

125 Haddon Avenue appears to be the two-story section of the building in the rear of Westmont Liquors, which apparently is a storefront that was added on the pre-existing house.
