Joseph Stanley Watson

ENSIGN JOSEPH STANLEY WATSON was born Joseph Stanley Sochacki on January 4, 1924 to Walter Sochacki and his wife, the former Helen Dera. His father's original name was Vaclaw Sochacki. He changed his name twice, first to Walter Sochacki and then at some point after 1940 to Walter Watson. He also is recorded as Watson  Sochacki when he registered for the draft in 1917 and in the 1930 Census, and the family name appears in several publications as Sochaski.

The 1924 and 1929 Camden City Directories show the family, which included an older brother also named Walter at 414 Jackson Street. By April of 1930 the Sochacki family had moved to 41 Nicholson Road in Gloucester City, the elder Sochacki then working as a tinsmith. He later worked as a patternmaker at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation shipyards. By 1940 the family had moved to 1449 South 9th Street in Camden, a short walk from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on South 10th Street in Camden, where they were members. 

Ensign Watson died due to circumstances unrelated to combat on March 6, 1946 in Duval County FL. He was survived by his parents, who were still living at 1449 South 9th Street and brothers Walter and Richard.

Ensign Watson was brought home, and buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in Gloucester Township NJ.
