PRIVATE WALTER G. TODD,
34, of 1015 Ironside Road in the Fairview section of Camden NJ was
killed on November 19, 1944 when the command car he was a passenger in
crashed enroute from Lanesboro MA to Pittsfield MA. The driver, Private
Ercil F. Bosley, was later charged with dangerous driving.
Walter Todd was born in North Carolina on
September 7, 1910.
When his father died in 1923, he moved to Camden NJ, and attended the
Yorkship School. After leaving school, he worked at different times for
the Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia, and for the RCA-Victor
Division of the Radio Corporation of America in Camden. In 1936 he was
living at 1581 Minnesota Road in Fairview. When he was
called to service in on September 16, 1942, he had been employed as a cook in Audubon
NJ, and was single.
Walter Todd trained at Fort Dix NJ, and was
subsequently stationed at an airbase near Atlanta GA. He had been
reassigned to Bradley Field in Windsor Locks CT only one week before
his death. At the time of his death, he was assigned to an Army project
near Washington Mountain, in Massachusetts.
Private Todd was survived by a sister, Sadie
Luoco of the Ironsides Road address, and two brothers, Clarence and
Arthur. |
