Alfred J. Mrowczynski

PRIVATE ALFRED J. MROWCZYNSKI, was born on October 2, 1923. As a boy, he was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart at Broadway and Ferry Avenue, and attended the Sacred Heart Parish School at Broadway and Ferry Avenue in Camden. He graduated from the Camden County Vocational School in Pennsauken NJ. His favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting. He worked as a welder at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation shipyard in Camden before being inducted into the United States Army in March of 1943.

After a brief period of basic training he was sent overseas in October of 1943, as a member of the 116th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. Arriving in France on June 6, 1944, Private Mrowczynski was killed on July 13, 1944 near St. Lo, France. 

Alfred Mrowczynski was survived by his parents, John and Frances Mrowczynski, of 1371 Park Boulevard, Camden NJ, his four brothers, Stanley, Henry, Edmund, and Walter, and three sisters, Mary, Josephine, and Rita. His death was reported in the September 22, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post.
