Shapiro's
Corrective
Shoes

Harry and Roslyn Shapiro founded their shoe store at 219 Broadway in 1931, during the height of the Depression. The business outlived many of the larger and well known stores and industries in Camden, and 219 Broadway is still used as a shoe store today.

Besides working closely with many area podiatrists and hospitals, the Shapiros made the extra effort to cater to there customers, employing an ethnically and linguistically diverse staff reflecting their customer base.

While going through some old things we came across a silver dollar.  My mother took me to Shapiro's over 50 years ago to buy my first pair of shoes, where we received the 1889 Morgan Silver dollar encased in a leather sleeve printed with the store's name and address on one side and the words "Good Luck" on the other.
