WILLIAM STREET ran south from Benson Street until it came to and end opposite 519 Line Street. The street dates back to at least 1850. Construction that began around 2010 closed William Street to through traffic between Benson and Clinton Streets. William Street for the time being is now only two blocks long, beginning at Clinton Street, crossing Royden Street, and ending at Line Street.
