The Comarco Quality Pork Products plant at 501-509 Jackson Street was destroyed after only being in operation a few months. 509-519 Jackson Street had previously been the home of a number of meat cutting and packing business going back to the 1890s. Most recently prior to Comarco, Dietz & Watson had used this facility. There had been a fire in the building once before, in 1950.
