ROBERT WILLIAM McCARTHY was born in Camden on March 22, 1943 to Timothy J. and Frances P. McCarthy. The family lived at 113 State Street in North Camden in the mid-1940s.

Robert McCarthy was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on July 9, 1968. The McCarthy family was then living at 3 North 30th Street in East Camden

Sadly, Robert McCarthy was severely injured in a water-skiing accident in August of 1968. He died as a result of his injuries on October 11, 1968. He left a widow, Kathleen, and sons Robert W. McCarthy Jr. and Michael W. McCarthy. 

On December 16, 1987 Michael W. McCarthy was appointed to the Camden Fire Department, and served 28 years and one month, retiring after serving as a Captain at Engine Company 10 in Fairview on January of 2016.
