MAY A. JONES was born on June 24, 1899. She married James H. Jones at the age of 21. The 1930 Census shows James and May A. Jones with a six-year old son James H. Jr., residing at the home of Sallie Jones, 2909 Berkley Street in East Camden. The 1947 Camden City Directory shows James H. Jones Sr. working as an inspector with the City Clerk's office in Camden. May A. Jones served served as a member of the Camden Board of Education in the middle 1950s. The Jones family resided at 2909 Berkley Street into the 1960s. Their son had by then moved to Delaware Township, present day Cherry Hill. By 1970 May A. and James H. Jones Sr. had also moved to Cherry Hill. May A. Jones last lived in Cherry Hill NJ. She passed away August 24, 1987, survived by her son, James H. Jones, a career postal worker and WWII Naval veteran. |

WOMEN INSTALL 12TH WARD CLUB STAFF
Mrs. May Jones, of 2909 Berkley street, recently elected president of the Twelfth Ward Republican Women's Club, and other new officers were installed at the club's head quarters, 2709 Westfield avenue. They are: Mrs. Rene Baker, vice president; Mrs. Rebecca Stover, re cording secretary; Mrs. Ida Harris, financial secretary; and Mrs. Charlotte Freye, treasurer. Miss Dorothy B. McIlvain, county committeewoman, declined re-election as president, It was announced. It was announced that a public card party, sponsored by the members, will be held at the club Monday evening. February 7. |
