CANDY VENDOR, 55, DIES IN HIS BOAT HOUSE HOME

Franklin Reed, 55, itinerant candy vendor, was found dead from a heart attack early yesterday in a boat house he occupied at the head of North Third Street.

Reed, a familiar character in Camden for more than 30 years, sold his wares from a small pushcart. He seldom missed a sports event in the city and was familiar to thousands of school children owing to his frequent calls at school yards during recess periods.

The First District police took the body to Cooper Hospital, where Coroner Benjamin F. Denny issued a death certificate. Reed was a brother of City Fireman William Reed, of the Front and Linden Street station..
