CHARLES E. GIBSON was born on September 19, 1947 in Camden, New Jersey to Elizabeth T. and Elwood C. Gibson. He grew up in Camden and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1965. 

Charles E. Gibson was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on September 5, 1973 and reported for duty the same day. He was then living at 219 North 38th Street in East Camden. After residency requirements were removed from Camden firefighters Charles Gibson moved to Westmont, New Jersey.

On January 1, 1999 Charles Gibson retired from the Camden Fire Department. His last 20 years were spent with Ladder Company 1.

Charles E. Gibson passed away on October 10, 2003.

Of Westmont on October 10, 2003, aged 56 years.
Beloved husband of Elaine (nee Chancellor). Devoted father of Stephanie Jusiak and her husband, Paul of Cherry Hill and Sherri Whitekettle and her husband, Michael of Merchantville. Son of Elizabeth Gibson of Pine Hill. Grandfather of Paul, Jr., Alyssa, Zachary and Justin. Sister of Joanne Tedeschi and her husband, Carmen of Gibbstown. Sister-in-law, Ruth Helms and her husband Bob of Riverside, and special cousin of Al Wiltsey and his wife, Ruby of Vineland.
A retired City of Camden Firefighter, Mr. Gibson retired in 1999. Charles started firefighting service at Engine #4 and for his last 20 years service was stationed at Ladder #1. A member of Woodrow Wilson Class of '65, Charles and his family lived in Westmont the last 28 years. Mr. Gibson served as treasurer and was a long standing member of Henry S. Haines Lodge 253 F & A M of Haddonfield.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Wednesday 10:30 AM in the BLAKE-DOYLE Funeral Home 226 Collings Ave., Collingswood. Funeral Services at NOON. Final Commendation at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden. Viewing Tuesday Evening, 7-9 PM at the Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Masonic Home of NJ, 902 Jacksonville Rd., Burlington, NJ 08016.
