HARRY V. HANKINS was the son of Daniel and Emma Hankins. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in September of 1877, according to the 1900 Census.

The 1880 Census shows Harry Hankins living with his parents and older siblings Annie, Mary, and Edward 1t 1228 Rye Street in Philadelphia. By 1894 Daniel Hankins had passed away, and Emma Hankins and some of her children had moved to 8 South 4th Street in Camden, New Jersey.

The 1900 Census shows Harry Hankins living with his widowed mother at 8 South 4th Street. He was then working as a papermaker. Also at home were younger sisters Emma and Elsie Hankins. He was still living with his mother and sisters when the 1906 Camden City Directory was compiled, by that time at 25 South 4th Street. He was then working as a driver. Not long afterwards, Harry Hankins was appointed to the Camden Fire Department. He remained a Camden firefighter for the rest of his days.

Harry Hankins married his wife Sarah around 1907. The 1910 Census, which was taken on April 18, 1910, shows Harry Hankins and his wife Sarah at 424 Taylor Avenue. Their next-door neighbor was brother firefighter John H. Lutts, his daughter Eva, and his two sons, John H. Lutts Jr. and Raymond, living at 422 Taylor Avenue. 

Harry and Sarah Hankins were never blessed with children. He and his wife Sarah remained at 424 Taylor Avenue until his passing, October 13, 1939. He had worked as a Chief's Aide in his later years with the Fire Department. 

Harry Hankins was survived by his wife. Sarah Hankins was still living 422 Taylor Avenue as late as 1946.
